Itinerary
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel or designated meeting point and take you to the Gal Oya National Park entrance.
Upon arrival, you will be guided to the park's ticket counter where your guide will assist you in purchasing entrance tickets.
Once the tickets are secured, you’ll head towards the Senanayake Samudraya Dam.
Senanayake Samudraya, constructed in 1949, is the largest reservoir in Sri Lanka and serves as a vital water source for surrounding communities. It is named after D.S. Senanayake, the first Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, and plays a key role in both agriculture and wildlife conservation.
The highlight of your journey begins with the boat safari across the scenic Senanayake Reservoir. During this peaceful ride, you will have the chance to see a variety of bird species, from fish eagles to kingfishers, as well as the iconic mugger crocodiles basking on the shores.
Keep an eye out for wild elephants as they swim between islands or graze along the water's edge—a rare and mesmerizing sight in Sri Lanka.
Additionally, you’ll witness local fishermen using traditional methods to catch fish, providing a glimpse into the local lifestyle.
After an exciting afternoon on the water, your boat safari will conclude around 5:00 PM.
