Visit two UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Golden Temple of Dambulla, on this private day trip with a personal guide—a must-do activity when visiting Sri Lanka. You’re chauffeured in the comfort of your own vehicle for the drive from Negombo, Colombo, Kalutara, Kandy, or Mount Lavinia. Climb the fifth-century fortress on a sightseeing tour and, after lunch, tour the impressive cave temple and marvel at its Buddha statues.
Early in the morning, around 6:00 AM, we will pick you up from your hotel in Colombo or Negombo. We can also arrange a pickup from the airport. The journey to Sigiriya, approximately 180 kilometers, will take around 4 hours, traveling via the expressway up to Kurunegala. From Kurunegala, we'll continue along the Batticaloa Highway. Along the way, we'll stop for a refreshment break in the Koskele area, a beautiful forest-side road with many food stalls. You can also spot numerous Asian macaques on the jackfruit trees along the area.
Upon reaching Sigiriya, our first stop will be the Sigiriya Museum, where you'll gain insightful knowledge about this World Heritage site. Following the museum visit, we will explore the beautiful Water Gardens located in front of the majestic Sigiriya Lion Rock. Finally, you'll begin your ascent up the rock. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. • Admission Ticket Included
Now is the perfect time to savor authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at a local restaurant in the Sigiriya area. You will be delighted by the vibrant food culture and unique recipes. Enjoy a variety of healthy vegetable curries, along with flavorful fish or chicken curry, followed by delectable desserts. Please note that the cost of this meal is included in the package price.
After lunch, you'll visit another remarkable World Heritage site: the Dambulla Cave Temple. This ancient temple complex, carved into a massive rock formation, features a series of impressive caves adorned with stunning murals and intricate Buddha statues. The site offers a fascinating glimpse into Sri Lanka's rich cultural and religious history, with its serene atmosphere and artistic masterpieces providing a truly memorable experience. • Admission Ticket Included
The return journey will begin around 5:00 PM, with a drive of approximately 4 hours to drop you off at your hotel in Colombo or Negombo. As you travel back, you'll have the opportunity to relax and reflect on the day's experiences, enjoying the scenic route as you make your way to your destination.
You can cancel your booking for a full refund up to 24 hours before the experience’s start time. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will not be refunded. Any changes to bookings within this time frame will not be accepted. Refunds will be processed if the experience is canceled due to poor weather, and you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
